At Happy Little Signers, we’re proud to offer more than just a baby signing class. Each session includes a dedicated social time at the end, and while, to some, it might just seem like a drink and chat, this part of the class is incredibly valuable—for both you and your child. Let’s explore why social time is such an important aspect of what we do.
Building Your Village
Parenthood can feel lonely, especially if you don’t already have a network of friends in the same stage of life. Social time gives you the opportunity to connect with other parents and carers who truly understand the joys and challenges of raising a little one.
This is a chance to build friendships that extend beyond the class, creating a support network of people who can offer advice, share experiences, and provide a listening ear. Many of our members have found playdate buddies, coffee companions, and even lifelong friends during these relaxed moments. Having a “village” of support can make all the difference in the early years of parenting.

Boosting Mental Health
Social time isn’t just about making friends—it’s about caring for your mental health too. As someone who’s experienced the isolation of early parenthood, I know how much of a difference it makes to have a safe, welcoming space where you can chat with other adults, share your experiences, and just feel heard.
Even if it’s your first class and you’re not sure about talking to anyone, simply being in a supportive environment can help you feel less alone. Plus, I’ll always be there with a warm smile, ready to introduce you to others or offer encouragement if you need it.
And let’s not forget the simple joy of having a hot drink—one you don’t have to make yourself! For many parents, it might be the only chance all day to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or at least a hot one!

Playtime for Little Ones
While you’re connecting with other parents, your little one is busy too! Social time allows your child to explore, play, and interact with their peers in a safe and stimulating environment.
For babies, this is a wonderful opportunity to observe others, develop their sensory awareness, and practice new skills. For toddlers, it’s a chance to work on sharing, turn-taking, and building relationships with other children. These interactions help lay the foundation for important social skills that they’ll carry with them as they grow.

Individualised Support With Your Signing
During social time, I also use the opportunity to provide individualised support for anyone who has questions or would like to learn specific signs. Whether you want to focus on a particular theme, like bedtime or mealtimes, or you’re looking for signs to support a specific need, I’m here to help.
This one-to-one tuition is a fantastic way to deepen your knowledge and confidence with signing, and it ensures you get the most out of the class experience.

At Happy Little Signers, social time isn’t just an add-on—it’s a core part of what makes our classes so special. It’s a time for connection, community, and support. Whether you leave with a new friend, a new sign, or just a warm drink and a moment of calm, social time is here to help you and your child thrive.
So next time you’re in class, take a moment to enjoy the social time, knowing that it’s helping you and your little one grow in so many ways.
